The hit off-Broadway revival of Tony Kushner’s Angels in America has extended for a fourth and final time at Signature Theatre Company. The production, which began performances at the Peter Norton Space on September 14, 2010, had originally been set to run through December 19 before extending through January 30, February 20, March 27 and now through April 24, 2011. Michael Greif directed the production.
Angels in America currently features Adam Driver as Louis Ironson, Sofia Jean Gomez as The Angel, Bill Heck as Joe Pitt, Keira Keeley as Harper Pitt, Lynne McCollough as Hannah Pitt, Billy Porter as Belize, Michael Urie as Prior Walter and Frank Wood as Roy Cohn. On March 29, Tony Award nominee Jonathan Hadary will replace Frank Wood as Roy Cohn for the final weeks of the run.
Signature Theatre Company’s 20th anniversary season celebrating Tony Kushner also features the New York premiere of The Intelligent Homosexual’s Guide to Capitalism and Socialism with a Key to the Scriptures, which begins performances at the Public Theater on March 22, directed by Grief, and The Illusion, Kushner’s freely adapted version of Pierre Corneille’s L’Illusion Comique, directed Michael Mayer.
